Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign CS5, help please?
I just have a question about why images I make in Photoshop print a different size than images I make in Illustrator when the dimensions are the same?
Like, I had to print out a CD jewel case cover, and I constructed the whole thing in Photoshop (4.75" x 4.75"), but when I printed it, it was really small. But when I placed it in Illustrator, I had to resize it, because it was still too small to fit the 4.75" x 4.75" art board....I just don't understand why (since I made them 4.75" in both programs) they are different sizes.....
I'm new with Illustrator, and alright with Photoshop. I'm taking a class on Illustrator right now, but my professor never explained t me why Photoshop printed smaller..she just told me to place it in AI to get the correct size.

Yeah, it comes down to resolution. You don't have to set one in Illustrator because it uses "vectors" and it's all scalable. In Photoshop you have to give it a higher resolution if you want to print it out.
For print files, set the resolution to 300. For online files, resolution doesn't matter (number of pixels does) but most people use 72 or 96.
