Hi there.
Yes, the Tangerine iBook is a laptop (portable) computer.
Computers are really something today. A million bits of information fly through the internet to your computer at any given moment.
Newer computers run fast. To put it in simple terms, lets think in terms of cars on the highway. How fast they go in mile per hour.
The iBook runs at 266 to 300 Mhz, er I mean 266 to 300 miles per hour. That's pretty good until you consider that most new laptop computers run at over 2,000 miles per hour.
The iBook is "internet ready." This means that you can connect your iBook to the internet either through its built in 56Kbps V.90 dial-up modem, or use its ethernet port to connect to a DSL or cable modem.
Its also "AirPort ready." This means that you can buy an 802.11b AirPort wireless card and install it under the keyboard to wirelessly connect to hot spots around town, or your wireless router for internet access.
Your iBook, because of its speed and hard drive limitation, will run Mac OS 8, 9 and X (I recommend through 10.3 only).
I own one and use it for internet access and work reports when I'm on the road. Its a solid little box, but its no where near the powerhouses Apple is making today. And the student discount makes it even more attractive.
